The golden tower in Shenzhen
Let me tell you the cheapest way to Hong Kong Intl airport from Guangzhou.
It costs about 13.00USD. The exchange rate of the CNY was 6.5 to the dollar at that time.(The middle of April in 2016)
First of all, I’ll simply show you the cheapest way below.
1. Take an express train at Guangzhou and get off at ShenzhenXi.
2. Walk to the nearest metro station “Daxin” from ShenzhenXi.
3. Take a metro at “Daxin”, and get off at “Futian Checkpoint”.
4. Leave from China, write an entry card of Hong Kong, and go to the immigration of Hong Kong.
5. Take a metro at “Lok Ma Chau(Futian Port)” after entering Hong Kong.
6. Get off a metro at “Sheung Shui”, and take a bus to Hong Kong Intl airport.

Then, details of each item below.
1. Take an express train at Guangzhou and get off at ShenzhenXi.
There are a few express trains a day, and they depart from Guangzhou in the morning ONLY. It costs about 25CNY(hard seat) and takes about 2 hours and a half. Mind not to take a high-speed train instead of an express train. You can check a train schedule on CTrip.
2. Walk to the nearest metro station “Daxin” from ShenzhenXi.
Head to “Daxin” from ShenzhenXi. “Daxin” is a metro station of LuoBao line(green line). It takes 15 minutes from ShenzhenXi on foot.
3. Take a metro, and get off at “Futian Checkpoint”
Transfer from LuoHu line to LongHua line(red line) at “Convention & Exhibition Center”, and go to “Futian Checkpoint” which is the terminal station of LongHua line. It costs 7CNY.
4. Leave from China, write an entry card of Hong Kong, and go to the immigration of Hong Kong.
Go to the way of entering Hong Kong, not to the way of exit.
5. Take a metro after entering Hong Kong.
You can go to the metro station “Lok Ma Chau(Futian Port)” directly from the immigration of Hong Kong. Take it there and get off at “Sheung Shui” which is the next station of “Lok Ma Chau”. It costs 24.5HKD.
6. Get off a metro, and take a bus to Hong Kong Intl airport.
Out from “A3”, and look for the bus port “B”. Then Wait for a bus A43 which goes to Hong Kong Intl Airport there. There are a few buses an hour during the daytime. It costs 30.9HKD and takes an hour. A43 doesn’t have any change, so have coins and small amount bills.
Off course, the reverse direction is also the cheapest!

You can choose “LuoHu Checkpoint” when you leave from China. Get off at the terminal station of LuoBao Line(green line) “Luohu” if you want to do so. Although you need a little more time than going to “Futian Checkpoint” from “Daxin”, you can avoid to transfer at “Convention & Exhibition Center”.
